The short version: WindShield stores only the data you type in. It lives on your device and your personal iCloud. We have no servers, collect no analytics, and sell nothing. Your financial data is entirely yours.
1 Overview
WindShield is a personal budgeting app developed by windshield.it.com. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is stored, and how it is used.
By using WindShield, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you have any questions, please contact us.
2 Data We Collect
WindShield stores only the data you explicitly enter:
Transaction records: amounts, dates, vendors, categories, items, flags, and notes you type in.
Spending categories and subcategories: the categories you create or customise.
Products and barcodes: product names, default prices, and barcode numbers you scan or enter.
Income and bill schedules: your pay frequency, payday date, recurring bill names, amounts and due dates.
Savings goals: goal names, target amounts, deadlines, and contribution history.
Notification preferences: which alerts you have enabled or disabled.
Receipt images: photos you capture using the receipt scanner. These are processed locally and are not transmitted to any external service.
Partner sharing data: if you use Joint Budget, your transactions are synced to your own private iCloud account and shared with one other device you invite.
No data is collected automatically or without your explicit input. WindShield does not collect device identifiers, location data, usage statistics, or crash reports.
3 How Data Is Stored
All data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData (on-device database).
We do not operate any servers. windshield.it.com has no access to your data at any time, in any form.
iCloud sync means your data is subject to Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy, which you can review at apple.com/legal/privacy.
Backup files you create within the app are saved to your device's local storage and can be exported to wherever you choose (e.g. Files app, iCloud Drive). These files are under your full control.
4 Sharing With Third Parties
We do not sell, share, or transmit your personal data to any third party, ever.
The only exception is the Partner Sharing feature, which uses Apple's CloudKit infrastructure to sync data between two devices that have established a sharing link. This is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not ours. The data never passes through windshield.it.com.
WindShield does not integrate with any advertising networks, data brokers, or third-party analytics services.
5 Analytics & Tracking
WindShield does not use any analytics SDKs, advertising identifiers, tracking pixels, or telemetry tools.
We do not track how you use the app, which features you open, how often you open the app, or any other usage behaviour. The app contains no advertising code and serves no advertisements.
6 Your Rights
Because all your data is stored on your own device (and optionally your own iCloud), you have complete control over it at all times.
To delete all data: Remove WindShield from your device. This permanently deletes all locally stored data.
To delete iCloud data: Go to your device's Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → WindShield, and delete the associated iCloud data.
To export your data: Use the Export feature in Settings to download a CSV or PDF of your transactions, or use the Backup feature to create a full JSON backup.
Since we hold no data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete or hand over on request. All data management happens directly on your device.
7 Children's Privacy
WindShield is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app stores all data locally on the user's own device and we operate no servers, no personal data of any kind is transmitted to us regardless of the user's age.
8 Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be communicated via an in-app notice in the next app update.
Continued use of WindShield after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
